The Real Cost of OTA Dependence
Most SA operators don't realise how much they're giving away. Here's the maths.
The calculator multiplies your OTA bookings by the commission rate you enter, so the answer is only as good as that rate. Airbnb now publishes a single 15.5% fee for most hosts, Vrbo publishes 12% commission plus a 3% payment processing fee, and Booking.com and Expedia set the percentage in your contract.
Commission is also charged on cleaning fees and, on Booking.com in most countries, on VAT, so your invoices can show a higher effective rate than the headline.
